The Granary

The Granary is a comfortable and spacious cottage on the Llyn Peninsula, located in a secluded countryside setting within easy reach of all beaches on the Western Llyn, including Whistling Sands, Hells Mouth and Porth Colmon.

Centrally located near to Aberdaron, Abersoch and Pwllheli, it is ideal for family holidays or a romantic getaway. Views from the Granary are breathtaking with the grounds offering triple aspect views to the sea, mountains and open farmland.

The Llyn Peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty that retains a unique Welsh charm and character that appeals to all ages. The peninsula also enjoys a unique micro climate, benefiting from the gulf-stream, bringing warmer sea temperatures and weather.

The accommodation

The Granary shares two acres of gardens with Penllech Farmhouse, providing plenty of outdoor space. The interior benefits from central heating and comfortably sleeps four in two rooms; a large bedroom with a king size bed and a separate mezzanine floor which has two single beds. There is an en suite shower room to the master bedroom and a separate WC. The spacious lounge has a log burner and adjoins the open plan, fully equipped kitchen. There is a double bed settee in the lounge providing additional sleeping space, if required. This is available on request. A separate dining area seats six people. To the rear is an external private raised patio leading to the garden area, the perfect place to sit and enjoy the magnificent distant sea views across open countryside.

The location

The quaint seaside village of Aberdaron is 5 miles from the Granary, Pwllheli is 11 miles and Abersoch is 7 miles. The main bus route between Pwllheli and Aberdaron passes the end of the drive.

Our area

The peninsula is a popular area for a wide range of activities including walking, fishing, golf, bird watching, diving, surfing and other water sports. The main bus route between Pwllheli (11 miles) and the quaint and unspoilt village of Aberdaron (5 miles) passes the end of the long drive leading down to the property. The closest village Sarn Mellteyrn is approximately one mile from the property and has two local pubs that serve excellent beers and food. Many of the local pubs are pet friendly, having areas where you can relax and dine inside in the company of your pets. Aberdaron is a quaint unspoilt village with a fabulous beach and a selection of places to eat or just enjoy a hot drink. This includes two excellent pub restaurants, a superb fish and chip shop and a choice of cafes, all highly recommended!

Morfa Nefyn is a 15 minute drive and boasts a fabulous 18 hole golf links, and Porth Dinllaen beach which features Ty Coch inn a beach pub that regularly ranks in the top three beach pubs in the world.

Nearby Nefyn has a micro-brewery which offers a tour of the brewery during the months of the summer season and all year round service in the bar, selling an excellent range of beer brewed in the premises.

The peninsula itself offers a host of convenient walks and many beaches and coves to explore, but for the more ambitious walkers and explorers Snowdonia and Barmouth are less than an hours drive from the cottage. The coastal path is popular with walkers and rightly so, as this provides an excellent vantage point for spotting marine activity, including dolphins or porpoise or a wealth of sea birds or birds of prey.

Pwllheli offers a wide range of eating establishments and a good selection of shops and supermarkets. Market days in the town are Wednesdays and Sundays, and there is an indoor swimming pool and excellent beaches.

Travel info

From Pwllheli, take the A499 to Llandbedrog. Turn right onto the B4413 in the direction of Aberdaron. Penllech Farm and Granary is approached via a long private lane directly off the B4413. It is situated 1 mile from the centre of Sarn Mellteyrn.

All bed linen and household towels provided (also towels available for drying off the dogs).
