Tangaer Cottage

Tangaer Cottage is a high-quality, pet-friendly holiday cottage near Lampeter, Ceredigion, in Mid Wales. Situated amongst green rolling hills on a farm with outstanding views of the Teifi Valley. In the heart of red kite country, a lovely peaceful retreat but just 3 miles from the University and market town of Lampeter, on the southern edge of the Cambrian Mountains, close to the Cardigan Bay Heritage Coastline and a short drive from the Welsh Coastal Path.

The setting is idyllic with fantastic scenery, an abundance of wildlife and wonderful walks on the doorstep with numerous attractions only a short drive away. Ideal as a base for touring, relaxing, or a family holiday as well as a romantic or relaxing break - the choice is yours. Pub less than a mile up the road.

The accommodation

Our holiday cottage was formerly a barn and has been renovated to a very high standard. It sleeps up to five plus a cot. We provide our guests with beautifully furnished accommodation, giving attention to detail with many little extras to make your stay memorable. A welcome pack is ready for your arrival.

There is a four poster bed in the master bedroom with a balcony giving breathtaking views of the hills. Two further bedrooms, one twin-bedded room and one single bedded room. All bedding, fluffy towels and hairdryers supplied. For relaxation there is a double-ended jacuzzi bath with shower over the bath (adult bathrobes supplied). In the lounge we have two comfy leather settees and a leather chair, a stone fireplace houses the woodburning stove for cosy nights in with a glass of wine, a wide screen tv with freeview and digibox, dvd player, hifi, ipod decking station, wii games console with games. A selection of dvds, cds, books, magazines, jigsaws and games supplied for your amusement. There are numerous tourist information leaflets, ordinance survey maps for your perusal and a pair of binoculars.

The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with built in cooker and ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, a wooden dining table with chairs (seats 6) as well as a full range of cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, and cooking utensils. There is a spacious utility room with drying facilities, washer/dryer, deep freeze and separate toilet. Plenty of room to dry clothes and boots if required.

Outside there is a decked patio (great suntrap) with garden furniture and gas barbecue (gas supplied no charge), an enclosed lawned garden with sun loungers and a play area for the children, basket ball, swings, sandpit, and a slide. A new bar/pub has opened (July 2021), is within walking distance (less than a mile) or ask us and we'll drive you and pick you up.

We have a shed available to store fishing rods, bikes and trailers if required.

The location

In Lampeter there are a good selection of restaurants, two supermarkets and a selection of small family run shops including an organic farm shop, a wholefood shop, several cafes, a fortnightly farmers market, great pubs, a swimming pool, tennis courts and bowling green. Walk around the University, with its fountain and lovely buildings. Tregaron Nature Reserve Cors Caron is nearby and the cottage is 16 miles to the beautiful Cardigan coastline where dolphins can be seen and you will find glorious sandy beaches, many of which have achieved European Blue and Green Flag status for the quality of their beaches. New Quay, Llangrannog, Cei Bach, Tresaith, Cwm Tudu and Penbryn beaches are all within driving distance. Golf and a public indoor swimming pool nearby.

Our area

Visit Aberaeron a pretty Georgian resort, famous for its dolphins and seals. Discover the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains and the lakes of Central Wales. The Brecon Beacons, National Botanic Gardens and Aberglasney, Devils Bridge, Tregaron Nature Reserve, Pumsaint Gold Mines and Folly Farm are just a few places to visit. Children love to visit the Honey Farm near Aberaeron, Oakwood Theme Park by Narbeth, Borth Animalarium near Aberystwyth. Cardiff, the capital city of Wales with its many attractions is within 2 hours drive by car. There are train stations in Carmarthen and Aberystwyth with buses then to Lampeter and Cellan.

For the more energetic there are excellent family and advanced mountain bike cycle tracks at Brechfa Forest in the Cothi Valley, Nant Yr Arian at Ponterwyd near Aberystwyth is the new Welsh MTB centre and has three separate trials with different degrees of difficulty. There is a cycle path from Aberaeron to Llanacheron running inland along the Aeron Valley and the Cors Caron route explores the Tregaron bog. Quad biking, coasteering, white water canoeing, kayaking, dry ski-slope and boarding, fishing, pony trekking and golf are all within easy driving distance.
